1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.
1 Y ACONTECIO en aquellos d�as que sali� edicto de parte de Augusto C�sar, que toda la tierra fuese empadronada.

2 Chay �aupaj kaj runa yupay ruwakorqa Cirenio Siriapi kamachishajtin.

2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
2 Este empadronamiento primero fu� hecho siendo Cirenio gobernador de la Siria.

3 Tukuyninkutaj rinanku karqa sapa uj llajtankuman yupachikunankupaj.

3 And everyone went to his own town to register.
3 E iban todos para ser empadronados, cada uno � su ciudad.

4 Josepis Davidpa ayllunmanta kasqanrayku, Galileapi Nazaret llajtamanta wicharerqa. Judeapi, Davidpa llajtan Belenkama.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
4 Y subi� Jos� de Galilea, de la ciudad de Nazaret, � Judea, � la ciudad de David, que se llama Bethlehem, por cuanto era de la casa y familia de David;

5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
6 Y aconteci� que estando ellos all�, se cumplieron los d�as en que ella hab�a de parir.

7 Payqa nacechikorqa kuraj kaj qhari wawanta, janantaswan k'iruykuspataj, uywa qaranaman siriykucherqa, tambopi paykunapaj mana campo kasqanrayku.

7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
7 Y pari� � su hijo primog�nito, y le envolvi� en pa�ales, y acost�le en un pesebre, porque no hab�a lugar para ellos en el mes�n.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.

9 Jinallapi Se�orpa angelnin rikhurirparerqa, k'anchaynintaj paykunata muyuykorqa, anchatataj mancharikorqanku.

9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
9 Y he aqu� el �ngel del Se�or vino sobre ellos, y la claridad de Dios los cerc� de resplandor; y tuvieron gran temor.

10 Jinapi angelqa paykunaman nerqa: Ama manchachikuychejchu. Willasqaykichej tukuy runaspaj may kusiyniyoj willanasta.

10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
10 Mas el �ngel les dijo: No tem�is; porque he aqu� os doy nuevas de gran gozo, que ser� para todo el pueblo:

11 Kunan qankunapaj nacekun Davidpa llajtampi uj Salvaj. Chayqa Cristo Se�or.

11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
11 Que os ha nacido hoy, en la ciudad de David, un Salvador, que es CRISTO el Se�or.

12 Qankunapaj kay se�al kanqa: Wawata tarinkichej janantaspi k'irusqa, uywa qaranapi sirikushajta, nispa.

12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
12 Y esto os ser� por se�al: hallar�is al ni�o envuelto en pa�ales, echado en un pesebre.

13 Jinallaman rikhurimorqanku angelpa qayllanman ashkha �ngeles Diosta yupaychaspa.

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
13 Y repentinamente fu� con el �ngel una multitud de los ej�rcitos celestiales, que alababan � Dios, y dec�an:

14 Paykuna nerqanku: Gloria kachun Diosman janaj pachapi, kay pachapitaj sonqo tiyaykuy kachun Diospa munakuynimpi kajkunapaj, nispa.

14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
14 Gloria en las alturas � Dios, Y en la tierra paz, buena voluntad para con los hombres.

15 Chay �ngeles janaj pachaman ripusqankutawan, michejkunaqa ninakorqanku: Jaku rina Belenman, yachamuna imachus kasqanta, Se�or willawasqanchejman jina, nispa.

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."
15 Y aconteci� que como los �ngeles se fueron de ellos al cielo, los pastores dijeron los unos � los otros: Pasemos pues hasta Bethlehem, y veamos esto que ha sucedido, que el Se�or nos ha manifestado.

16 Usqhay usqhavta rispa, tariparqanku Mariata, Josetawan, wawatataj uywa qaranapi sirisqata.

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.
16 Y vinieron apriesa, y hallaron � Mar�a, y � Jos�, y al ni�o acostado en el pesebre.

17 Jinata rikuspataj, willarqanku angelpa nisqanta wawamanta.

17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,
17 Y vi�ndolo, hicieron notorio lo que les hab�a sido dicho del ni�o.

18 Tukuynin uyarejkuna t'ukorqanku michejkunaj willasqankumanta.

18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
18 Y todos los que oyeron, se maravillaron de lo que los pastores les dec�an.

19 Chay tukuy imastataj Mariaqa unanchaspa sonqompi waqaycharqa.

19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
19 Mas Mar�a guardaba todas estas cosas, confiri�ndolas en su coraz�n.

20 Chant� michejkunaqa kutiporqanku Diosta jatunchaspa, yupaychaspataj imastachus uyarisqankumanta, rikusqankumanta ima, angelpa willasqanman jina.

20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
20 Y se volvieron los pastores glorificando y alabando � Dios de todas las cosas que hab�an o�do y visto, como les hab�a sido dicho.

21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived.
21 Y pasados los ocho d�as para circuncidar al ni�o, llamaron su nombre JESUS; el cual le fu� puesto por el �ngel antes que �l fuese concebido en el vientre.

22 Moisespa leyninman jina llimphuchakunanku tiempo junt'akojtintaj, Jerusalenman aparqanku wawata Se�orman rikuchinankupaj.

22 When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
22 Y como se cumplieron los d�as de la purificaci�n de ella, conforme � la ley de Mois�s, le trajeron � Jerusalem para presentarle al Se�or,

23 Chayta ruwarqanku Se�orpa leynimpi qhelqasqa kasqanman jina: Tukuynin kuraj kaj qhari wawa nacejqa Se�orpaj t'aqasqa kanqa, nispa.

23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord"),
23 (Como est� escrito en la ley del Se�or: Todo var�n que abriere la matriz, ser� llamado santo al Se�or),

24 Chayrayku aparqanku Se�orpa leyninman jina wa�uchispa jaywanankupaj iskay palomasta, chayr� iskay tortolasta.

24 and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons."
24 Y para dar la ofrenda, conforme � lo que est� dicho en la ley del Se�or: un par de t�rtolas, � dos palominos.

25 Chaypacha tiyakorqa Jerusalenpi uj runa Simebn sutiyoj. Payqa k'acha karqa, Diosta manchachikoj. Allin runa kaspa, suyasharqa Israel sonqochasqa kananta. Esp�ritu Santopis paypi kasharqa.

25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
25 Y he aqu�, hab�a un hombre en Jerusalem, llamado Sime�n, y este hombre, justo y p�o, esperaba la consolaci�n de Israel: y el Esp�ritu Santo era sobre �l.

26 Esp�ritu Santotaj payman willarqa manaraj wa�upushaspa Diospa kachamusqan Cristota rikunanta.

26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
26 Y hab�a recibido respuesta del Esp�ritu Santo, que no ver�a la muerte antes que viese al Cristo del Se�or.

27 Simeonqa Esp�ritu Santoj yuyaychasqan Temploman jamorqa. Chant� Jesuspa tatasnin wawata Temploman aparqanku leyman jina.

27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,
27 Y vino por Esp�ritu al templo. Y cuando metieron al ni�o Jes�s sus padres en el templo, para hacer por �l conforme � la costumbre de la ley.

28-29 Jinapi Simeonqa wawata marq'arikuspa, Diosta kay jinata yupaycharqa: Kunanqa Se�or, sonqo junt'asqata kamachiykita kachapuway, imaraykuchus niwasqaykeqa junt'akun.

28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
29 "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace.
28 Entonces �l le tom� en sus brazos, y bendijo � Dios, y dijo:
29 Ahora despides, Se�or, � tu siervo, Conforme � tu palabra, en paz;

30-31 Nawisniywan rikuni kachamusqayki Salvajta, wakichisqaykita tukuy runaspa �aupaqempi.

30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 which you have prepared in the sight of all people,
30 Porque han visto mis ojos tu salvaci�n,
31 La cual has aparejado en presencia de todos los pueblos;

32 pay k'anchanqa mana jud�o kajkunaman; Israel aylluykipajpis jatunchasqa kanankupaj jina kanqa, nispa.

32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
32 Luz para ser revelada � los Gentiles, Y la gloria de tu pueblo Israel.

33 Jesuspa tatan, mamanwan t'ukorqanku, Simeonqa wawamanta nisqanmanta.

33 The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him.
33 Y Jos� y su madre estaban maravillados de las cosas que se dec�an de �l.

34 Chant� Sime�n paykunata bendecerqa. Wawaj maman Mariamantaj nerqa: Kay wawataqa Dios churan Israelpi ashkhas urmanankupaj, jatarinankupajtaj. Se�al churasqa kashan payta ashkhas qhesachanankupaj

34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,
34 Y los bendijo Sime�n, y dijo � su madre Mar�a: He aqu�, �ste es puesto para ca�da y para levantamiento de muchos en Israel; y para se�al � la que ser� contradicho;

35 Llakiytaj qampa sonqoykita espada jina t'ojsenqa, jinapi ashkha sonqospa yuyasqasnin sut'inchakunampaj, nispa.

35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."
35 Y una espada traspasar� tu alma de ti misma, para que sean manifestados los pensamientos de muchos corazones.

36 Chaypi kashallarqataj Diospa profetan Ana sutiyoj, Fanuelpa ususin, Aser ayllumanta. Payqa paya�a karqa. Sipas kashaspa casarakusqanmanta qanchis watallata qosanwan tiyakusqa.

36 There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,
36 Estaba tambi�n all� Ana, profetisa, hija de Phanuel, de la tribu de Aser; la cual hab�a venido en grande edad, y hab�a vivido con su marido siete a�os desde su virginidad;

37 Viuda karqa, pusaj chunka tawayoj watasniyoj. Templomantaqa mana llojsejchu, tuta p'unchay sirvispa, ayunaspa, Diosmantataj ma�akuspa.

37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.
37 Y era viuda de hasta ochenta y cuatro a�os, que no se apartaba del templo, sirviendo de noche y de d�a con ayunos y oraciones.

38 Chay kikimpacha jamuspa, Diosta yupaycharqa, wawa Jesusmantataj willarqa Jerusalenpa salvacionninta tukuy suyajkunaman.

38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
38 Y �sta, sobreviniendo en la misma hora, juntamente confesaba al Se�or, y hablaba de �l � todos los que esperaban la redenci�n en Jerusalem.

39 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.
39 Mas como cumplieron todas las cosas seg�n la ley del Se�or, se volvieron � Galilea, � su ciudad de Nazaret.

40 Chant� wawaqa wi�arqa, kallpachakorqataj, yachaywan junt'asqa. Diospa khuyakuynintaj paywan karqa.

40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
40 Y el ni�o crec�a, y fortalec�ase, y se hench�a de sabidur�a; y la gracia de Dios era sobre �l.

41 Jesuspa tatasnin sapa wata Pascua fiestapaj Jerusalenman rej kanku.

41 Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover.
41 E iban sus padres todos los a�os � Jerusalem en la fiesta de la Pascua.

42 Jes�s chunka iskayniyoj watayoj kashajtin, Jerusalenman rerqanku, Pascua fiestaman rina yachasqa kasqanman jina.

42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom.
42 Y cuando fu� de doce a�os, subieron ellos � Jerusalem conforme � la costumbre del d�a de la fiesta.

43 After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it.
43 Y acabados los d�as, volviendo ellos, se qued� el ni�o Jes�s en Jerusalem, sin saberlo Jos� y su madre.

44 Wajkunawan rishasqanta yuyaspa, paykunaqa uj p'unchay puriypi�a watukorqanku ayllusninku ukhupi, rejsisqas ukhupi ima.

44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.
44 Y pensando que estaba en la compa��a, anduvieron camino de un d�a; y le buscaban entre los parientes y entre los conocidos:

45 Mana payta tarispataj, Jerusalenkama mask'aspa kutirerqanku.

45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him.
45 Mas como no le hallasen, volvieron � Jerusalem busc�ndole.

46 Kinsa p'unchaymanta payta tarerqanku Templopi yachachejkunawan tiyashajta, parlasqankuta uyarispa, tapurispa ima.

46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
46 Y aconteci�, que tres d�as despu�s le hallaron en el templo, sentado en medio de los doctores, oy�ndoles y pregunt�ndoles.

47 Uyarejkunaqa anchatataj t'ukusharqanku yachayninmanta, kutichisqasninmanta ima.

47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.
47 Y todos los que le o�an, se pasmaban de su entendimiento y de sus respuestas.

48 Ajinata rikuspa, tatasnimpis t'ukullarqankutaj, mamantaj payman nerqa: Waw�y, imaraykutaj kay jinata ruwawaykuri? Noqawan, tataykiwanqa may phutisqa mask'asuyku, nispa.

48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you."
48 Y cuando le vieron, se maravillaron; y d�jole su madre: Hijo, �por qu� nos has hecho as�? He aqu�, tu padre y yo te hemos buscado con dolor.

49 Chant� Jes�s nerqa: Imaraykutaj mask'ashawarqankichej? Manachu yachankichej Tataypa ruwanasnimpi kashanayta? nispa.

49 "Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"
49 Entonces �l les dice: �Qu� hay? �por qu� me buscabais? �No sab�ais que en los negocios de mi Padre me conviene estar?

50 paykunar� mana entienderqankuchu chay nisqanta.

50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
50 Mas ellos no entendieron las palabras que les habl�.

51 Chant� Jes�s kutiporqa tatasninwan Nazaretman, chaypitaj paykunata kasuspa kakorqa. Chay tukuy imastataj mamanqa sonqompi waqaycharqa.

51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
51 Y descendi� con ellos, y vino � Nazaret, y estaba sujeto � ellos. Y su madre guardaba todas estas cosas en su coraz�n.

52 Jesusqa wi�asharqa yachaypi, cuerpompipis. Payqa Diospaj allin qhawasqa karqa, chant� tukuy runaspajpis.

52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
52 Y Jes�s crec�a en sabidur�a, y en edad, y en gracia para con Dios y los hombres.
